Dean and Lei Nakayama were busy with their Kauai Bakery, so sent down their beauty queens to pick up as many helpings as they could so they could sample it in the back.
Mayor Bryan J. Baptiste also took in the event, and the secret to the whole thing is to follow the mayor — he samples one, moves around and talks to people before re-entering to have a different sample.
Billy Gibson is the master at this, getting the area cleared so the Radisson Kauai Beach Resort folks’ entry could set up a little behind schedule. But, it was worth the wait! And, if you thought their Saturday one was good — the one at the July Fourth Concert in the Sky was also great (with the double scoop of mac salad). Dale Rosenfeld was entertaining people with balloon animal sculptures (what doesn’t she do?), and Mary Daubert had her spot behind the audio station where she was getting full after only four tries (lessee now, nine more to go…). This is the kind of event Helena Kodani likes to check out, and this time, was that daughter Caroline in tow? Meanwhile, hats off to Alton Amimoto and the Drug Court clients who turned out Saturday to clean Hanama‘ulu Beach Park! Over at Ron’s Electric, was nice to see Gini Kapali again (Lights on Rice parade coming up, Dec. 3!), and this time, she even introduced Shannon Garcia-Hamilton of the Lihu‘e TSA.
