As a glider pilot Herman won numerous awards in glider competitions in endurance, distance, altitutde and spot landing. He attended and assisted at international contests also. He and his son developed the Tradewinds Glider business in Port Allen.
Family and friends will miss his helpful ways and straightforward, honest approach to life.
