Guadalupe Acoba Acupan
Guadalupe Acoba Acupan of Lihu‘e, died June 20, 2004, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 95.
A homemaker, she was born Dec. 9, 1908, in the Philippines.
She is survived by three daughters: Dominga Robles, Anastacia (Severino) Madriaga, and Maria Cacal; four sons: Manuel (Carlina) Acupan, Carlos (Jacinta) Acupan, Domingo (Corazon) Acupan and Andres (Carlina) Acupan; 23 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, July 10, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kapaia. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. with mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are being handled by Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
Amparo Nakaula
Amparo Nakaula of Kekaha, died June 30, 2004, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 52.
A nurse’s aide, she was born Aug. 29, 1951, in the Philippines.
She is survived by her husband: Edward Nakaula of Kekaha; two daughters: Edwina He‘a Lani ‘o Kalani ‘Ipo Nakaula and Analia M. Ellis; one sister: Gloria Tonbicon of Lihu‘e; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 10, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel where friends may call from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Father Paul. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Tomiko Hamano
Tomiko Hamano died on July 1, 2004, at the age of 72.
She was born in Tokyo on Oct. 4, 1931. She is survived by two sons: Duane (Sammee) Albano of Kilauea and Alan Albano of Yokohama, Japan; and one daughter: Janet (Anthony) Howser of Honolulu; and five grandchildren.
Tomiko moved to Kaua‘i in June 2003, where she accepted Jesus as her Lord. She publicly declared her faith when she was baptized at Lydgate Park. Her friends and family will be meeting together for a celebration of her life at Lihu‘e Missionary Church, 4383 Rice St., on July 11, at p.m.
Casual attire is suggested.
Nicholas ‘Nicki’ Quereto
Nicholas “Nicki” Quereto of Kapa‘a died on June 30, 2004 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
Born in Kapa‘a in 1942, he graduated from Kapa‘a High School in 1960 and served a labor mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1961. Nicki worked for Hawaiian Fruit Packers, Sears, the Jolly Roger, and spent the last 14 years delivering for Pizza Hut.
Nicki loved to sing, loved a good laugh, and loved people. Nicki’s glass was always half full. He will be missed for his smile, his unassuming generosity, his laughter, and his kindness. Nicki was always helping people, willing to do anything he could do to help someone else without thought of recompense or personal gain.
Nicholas is survived by his two brothers, John Quereto of Kapa‘a and Moroni (Melanie) Quereto of Iowa, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be treasured in our memory.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 10, at the LDS Church in Kapa‘a. A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the services immediately following, from 11 a.m. to noon.
