West Kaua‘i took Kuku’s Aces in a 8 to 16 win in the opening game of the day. In the first inning West Kaua‘i scored two runs off a walk to Daniel Manus and a double by Frank Bukoski followed with both Larry Ephan and Braddah Rittemeister hitting a SF.
Kuku’s Aces also managed to score two runs in the first inning off singles from Pancho DeCosta, Junior Riveira and Gary Kitabayashsi topped with a SF from Ben Pescador.
West Kaua‘i scored three more runs in the second inning on hits from Boni Garma, Pat Pavao and Maxie Moreno. Kuku’s Aces did not score in the second, third or fourth inning.
K-Makule v.s. East Kaua‘i
K-Makule dumped East Kaua‘i in a TKO five inning game 15-0.
K-Makule jumped out in the first inning with seven big runs. Starting batter, Ernest Domingo flew out for out number one and Lefty Remata drew a walk.
Lihu‘e A’s v.s. Rookies
The Rookies took the Lihu‘e A’s in a TKO six inning game by a score of 5 to 17. Dwight Fujii crossed the plate in the top of the first inning for a Lihu‘e run on a base hit from Tomoo Hiranaka.
Three more runs for Lihu‘e in the third off a Rookies error and base hits from Hiranaka, Glenn Akina and Shigeo Oshiro with Oshiro credited with two RBI’s.
Lihu‘e A’s v.s. West Kaua‘i
The Lihu‘e A’s, in their second game of the day, turned the score around with a win over West Kaua‘i 17-5.
The A’s played like the champs that they are with runs coming in almost every inning as a result of twenty base hits.
Playoff update
The race is still on for the second round winner who will face off with first round champ, West Kaua‘i, for the overall island champion and the right to play in the coveted A Divison in the State Senior Softball Championships.
The State championships will be held on Kaua‘i this year at the Hanapepe parks, August 4-6.
There will be five divisions with a State winner in each division.
