Lihu‘e had a quick start scoring on almost every shot against the Warriors in the first period until Mike Lindsey got started late in the quarter, but Kapa‘a came out on top, 42-31 in boys 19-and-under action at Kapa‘a Gym on Tuesday. At the end of the First quarter Lihu‘e held the lead at 14-8. Kapa‘a stayed close in the second period scoring nine points to Lihu‘e’s eight. In the second half, the Warriors went on war path behind the strength of their big men. Mike Lindsey chipped in with eight points, while Kapena Cummings added four to win the third period 14-5. In the final period it was the Warriors staying with the game plan and scoring 16 points to Lihu‘e’s four to take the victory. Mike Lindsey led the warriors with 17 points while Junnel Calpito had eight points. Bryson Semana had the hot hand for Lihu‘e with 13 while Kaylan Dolor had nine.
Meanwhile on Wednesday at Kalaheo Gym, The Kaua‘i Fire Raiders took care of the Easide Gurlz, 32-10 in girls 19-and-under action. Mei-Ling Keopuhiwa led the Raiders with 11 points and Cheyenne Barretto and Teeana Valpoon paced the Easide Gurlz with 3 points each.
