Got a problem with illegal drug activity on your rental property?
Then this could be the workshop for you.
State and county government officials have partnered with Hawaii’s real estate industry leaders to bring the original, nationally recognized Landlord Training Program to the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort & Beach Club July 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The program is called “Keeping Illegal Activity Out of Rental Property” and will travel to Maui, Kaua‘i, Hawaii, and Oahu.
This program is one part of many efforts to stop illegal drug activities and other criminal activities that threaten the health, safety, and welfare of our residential neighborhoods.
While the Attorney General and the County Prosecutors have the option of taking action against property managers and owners who permit the long term presence of illegal drug activity or other criminal activity on their properties, they would prefer to work with landlords to ensure problems never reach such a level. This program is part of that effort.
The training will be presented by John Campbell of Campbell DeLong Resources, Inc.
Effective property management can have a major impact on the health of a community and there are legitimate techniques that can be used to stop the spread of drug activity on rental property.
Some of the topics that will be covered in this program include rental agreements, how to manage property in a way that discourages illegal behavior and ensures early warning should it occur, and working with the police.. The $20 registration fee includes lunch, a comprehensive manual, and applicable laws and references. Continuing education credits are being offered, for an additional fee, to real estate license holders. For more information: Hawaii Assn of Realtors at (888) 737-9070, or go to www.hawaiirealtors.com.
