Oceanit welcomed Scott Gregory to its Kaua‘i team.
Mr. Scott has varied career experience that includes government and private sector employment, managing start-up organizations, fund raising, business planning, financial analysis, and project management. Mr. Scott was previously with Booz Allen Hamilton and is the former Chief Technology Officer for In-Q-Tel, the CIA’s technology outreach program. Mr. Scott is a valuable addition to Oceanit where he is responsible for managing the optical missile tracking program.
Founded in 1985, Oceanit is one of Hawaii’s largest and most diversified science and engineering companies focused in areas such as marine-based biotechnology, space situational awareness, remote environmental monitoring, biophotonics, and transparent medical monitoring.
The Poipu Beach Resort Association welcomed Suzanne Aguiar as its newest staff member. She has been hired in a permanent part-time position to handle fulfillment of all information requests. Suzanne has been working at PBRA on special projects since last summer. She is also working on a degree at Kauai Community College and formerly worked for DataSpace Industries and Palm’s Hawaii Architecture.
The American Advertising Federation District 13 held its 2003-2004 Pele Awards Gala Event recently. These awards recognize the best advertising and design work produced in Hawaii during 2003.
Kauai agency Tsunami Marketing — with a new office recently opened on Oahu — took home five prestigious awards including 1 Pele award (the highest award for design excellence) for their creative letterhead family design. Other awards included two Awards of Excellence, and two Merit Awards. Six judges from top Mainland design and advertising agencies judged over 800 local entries, resulting in a list of over 200 top scoring pieces.
The winners were honored at a special event on Saturday night, April 3, at the Hilton Hawaiian Village’s Tapa Ballroom. The Safari Helicopter’s website took home two awards, one for the website, another for the Photo Safari Flash® game that was part of the website (www.safarihelicopters.com).
Merit awards were granted to Lappert’s Hawaii’s photo series advertisements and to the Kauai Visitors Bureau for their “Circle of Life” lapel pin.
