Crispina Navor Ibos
Crispina Navor Ibos of ‘Ele‘ele, died at The Queen’s Medical Center on May 19, 2004 at the age of 57.
Born in Luna La Union, Philippines on Oct. 25, 1946, she was a room attendant with the Sheraton Kauai Resort. She is survived by son, Guy Ibos of ‘Ele‘ele; two daughters, Krystie (Mando) Ramos of Kaumakani and Trisha Ibos of ‘Ele‘ele; brother, Teofilo Navora of Philippines; sister, Cleotilde Renon of Philippines; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, at Holy Cross Catholic Church; mass officiated by Father Nap will begin at 11 a.m., followed by burial at Hanapepe Public Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Williams Mortuary and Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Donald Satoru Shimatsu
Donald Satoru Shimatsu of Waimea died May 19, 2004 at the age of 65.
Born in Waimea on Aug. 27, 1938, he was a retired public works employee with the County of Kaua‘i. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; son, Michael (Crystal) Shimatsu of Waimea; mother, Haruko Shimatsu; brother, Kelly (Stella) Shimatsu of Kalaheo; sister, Kathleen (Harris) Okamoto of Torrance, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; five step-sons, Vernon (Siobhan) Ching of Glendale, Ariz., Eugene (Geri) Ching of Kula, Maui, Wayne (Teresa) Ching of Kailua, O‘ahu, Mervin (Nathalie) Ching of Kihei, Maui, and Leland Ching of Honolulu; four step-daughters, Sharon (Burx) Norrod of Keanae, Maui, Paulette Ching of Hilo, Hawai‘i, Reinette Ching of Pukalani, Maui, and Michele Ching of Honolulu; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 29, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Service officiated by Father Larry will begin at 10:30 a.m. Aloha attire is suggested and flowers omitted. Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Natsu S. Yokoi
Natsu S. Yokoi of Las Vegas, formerly of Kaua‘i, died at Southern Hills Hospital in Las Vegas at the age of 90.
Born June 15, 1913 in Kalihi, O‘ahu, she worked as a seamstress for many years at Iolani Sportswear, where she retired in 1975.
She was a member and very active for many years with the Lihu‘e Senior Citizens. She loved to sew, knit and crochet during her leisure hours. She moved to Las Vegas in March 2003 to be with her daughter.
She is survived by her four sons, Thomas T. (Vera) Yokoi of Gardena, Calif., Royden M. (Betty) Yokoi of Kaua‘i, Ronald S. Yokoi of Pt. Hueneme, and Gordon S. Yokoi of Kaua‘i; daughter, Linda M. (Tsugio) Okimoto of Las Vegas; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Toshiichi “Lefty” Yokoi.
Memorial services will be held on Kaua‘i at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kauai Mortuary.
James Joseph Finn
James Joseph Finn of Hilo died May 21, 2004 at Hilo Medical Center at the age of 73.
He was born in St. Marys, Kansas, June 3, 1930.
He was a retired air traffic controller for the U.S. Air Force and Federal Aviation Administration. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, past president of the Anela St. Kumiai, chief ranger for Court Mauna Kea A.O.F., past exulted ruler and past state vice president for the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 759, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2379 and Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by wife Clara Finn of Hilo; three sons, Michael (Diane) Finn of Lahaina, Maui, Kennard Lee (Gabriele) Finn of Kailua, O‘ahu and Andrew (Nalani) Finn of ‘Oma‘o, Kaua‘i; three daughters, Pamela Akao of Waimea, Hawai‘i, Teresa (Robert) Witten of Hilo, Hawai‘i, and Patricia (John) Griffiths of Kaimuki, O‘ahu; daughter-in-law Janet Matsumura Finn of Hawaiian Paradise Park; sister, Mary Catherine (Fred) Daniels of New Hampshire; 16 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; funeral service at 5 p.m. Friends may call again from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 27 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo; funeral mass to be held at 12:15 p.m. Burial to follow at Hawai‘i Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire is suggested.
Akiyo Wasano
Akiyo Wasano of Kapa‘a died May 17, 2004, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 91.
A seamstress, she was born October 13, 1912, in Ko‘olau.
Preceded in death by her daughter: Gladys (Yasuo) Matsumoto, she is survived by four sons: Rodney (Ann) Wasano of Florida, Dennis (Mary) Wasano of Kaua‘i, Gary (Karen) Wasano of Maui and Richard Wasano of Virginia; three brothers: James (Katherine) Kunichika of Honolulu, Robert (Aileen) Kunichika of Honolulu and Kenichi (Ichiyo) Kunichika of Honolulu, and one sister: Harui Izuka of Honolulu; three sisters-in-law: Hazel Watanabe of Lihu‘e, Fumio Nagaoka of Kapa‘a and Julie Kunichika of Honolulu; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Private services were held on Sunday, May 23, at Kapaa Hongwanji Mission.
Services were arranged by Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
Maria Manera Aladin
Maria Manera Aladin of Puhi died at her home on May 23, 2004, at the age of 76.
A housekeeper for Tip Top, she was born Aug. 20, 1927, in the Philippines.
She is survived by 10 children: Angelita (Florito) Dimaranan of the Philippines, Carmelita (Francisco) Yoro of Puhi, Aurora (Lolito) Imperial of the Philippines, Laudencio (Gloria) Aladin of the Philippines, Leticia (Angel) Asejo of the Philippines, Mario (Eden) Aladan, Epifanio (Jenny) Aladin, Mariano (Nita) Aladin, Jr., Teresa (Jerrett) Harris, and Eva (Alden) Adaoag, all of Kaua‘i; two sisters: Alvina Culaton and Arsenia Carbonel; 24 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, May 29, at Immaculate Conception Church, with viewing from 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. and mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by Father Bill. Burial to follow at Lihue Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.

Lillian Kaui Pua Melia o Kaaina Malahini Niau of Hanapepe died May 18, 2004, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 44.
Born Dec. 3, 1959, in Waimea, she is survived by her companion: Kenny Beckel of Hanapepe; two sons: Kahui Sperry-Niau and Kawai Niau, both of Hanapepe; one brother: Tony (Linda) Niau of Hanapepe, and one sister: Pua (Billy) Niau of ‘Ele‘ele; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa, with services celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Hawaiian Cemetery.
