Debra Jason, principal of Kauai-based The Write Direction, was honored as the “Creative Person of the Year” by the Rocky Mountain Direct Marketing Association. A member of the RMDMA since 1989, Jason was Acknowledged for her creative contributions to the organization. She first became involved as the Association’s newsletter editor, then sat on the Board of Directors, moved on to serve as President-Elect, President and Past President from 1998-1999. “In an industry where response is everything, what could be better than having my colleagues respond with such praise,” she said. “It’s wonderful to receive this kind of acknowledgment from my colleagues.
It means a lot to me especially since I’m no longer based in Boulder but on the island of Kauai.” Even from miles away, Jason has continued her involvement with the organization, writing newsletter articles, seminar meeting mailers, and more. Barbara Bennett has resigned her position as Sales Director for This Week Publications, Pleasant Hawaiian Magazine and Aloha
Festival Magazine. She was with the company for 7 and a half years. Bennett will continue as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Kaua‘I Visitors
Bureau. She is a member of the board of the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce, coordinator of the Kauaian Days and Aloha Visit, a member of the Kaua‘i Food Industry Forum and coordinator of the Women in Business Roundtable. She will remain on Kauai where she lives in Waimea. Three of her six children are on Oahu and she shares a business, Curves for Women in Hawaii Kai on Oahu, with her daughter.
