A 24-year-old Kapa‘a man was arrested for attempted murder on Saturday, after nearly striking Kaua‘i Police Department officers with a vehicle while allegedly trying to flee the scene of an incident.
KPD officials received a complaint of a vehicle with its doors open, parked in the middle of Kapaia Road.
Officers responding to the call found two males in the vehicle, who then attempted to flee the scene in the vehicle. According to KPD officers, the vehicle nearly struck the officers on two occasions.
A pursuit occurred, and the 24-year-old suspect was arrested for attempted murder after the vehicle he was driving ran off the roadway. No injuries were reported in this incident, which occurred at about 11:49 p.m.
The other occupant in the vehicle was arrested on drug charges.
An investigation is continuing, according to a county spokesperson.
