In a make-up game at Waimea Ball Park, K-Makule dominated Kuku’s Aces, 22-8 in five innings.
K-Makule drew three runs in the first inning with Ernest Domingo on base with a walk followed by Lefty Remata and Doric Remata with singles. Then, Doric drove in Domingo. Eddie Dela Cruz hit a double driving in both Remata brothers giving K-M three runs in the first inning.
Leading the Aces were Ruiz, Kitabayashi and Dela Cruz with a 1-2 outing, and Ben Pescador, who went 2-3.
A repeat performance of 7 maximum runs occurred in the fifth inning on hits from Doric, Smith, Dela Cruz, Arakaki, Paiste, Buduan and Fraticelli.
The winning pitcher was Dado Paiste. Meanwhile, the losing pitcher was Kuku DeCosta. Big hitters for K-Makule were Doric Remata, who went 2-3, Smith, Arakaki and Buduan with 2-4, Fraticelli with 3-3, Paiste with 3-4, Domingo and Lefty Remata with 3-5, and Danny Smith with 4-4, including a homerun.

In a six inning game Kawaihau took possession from the on set to blank the Aces 18-0. Kawaihau scored one run in the first inning on an error from Kuku’s Aces second baseman Junior Ruiz and hits from Ken Tamashiro, Jack Lucas and Paul Gusman.
Kawaihau kept the rally up in the fifth inning and added two more runs to the pot on hits from Paul Awazu and Fujii. The maximum seven runs were scored in the sixth inning on hits from Alfonso, Paul Gusman, Awazu, Paul Miyamoto, Teddy Daligdig, Fujii, Calvin Fujita, and Tamashiro.
The winning pitcher for Kawaihau was Ken Tamashiro. In the meantime, leading in the batting department were Alfonso, Awazu and Daligdig with 2-3, Tamashiro with 3-5, Gusman with 2-4, Lucas with 3-3, and Fujii with 4-5. Fujii and Alfonso were both credited with 4 RBI’s.

East Kaua‘i 9, Kuku’s Aces 2
Damien Victorino started the rally in the first frame with a base hit for East Kaua‘i followed by Ron Javier with a single to beat the Aces 9-2.
Alex Youn launched a sacrifice fly, scoring Victorino. Then, Dickie Koerte and Jerome Hew both got on with Hew scoring Javier. Ronnie Holt then hit a high fly to center fielder Kaleo Furtado who dropped the ball allowing Koerte to score. Two more runs were scored in the third inning when Javier hit a single and was followed by Youn with a homerun.
The winning pitcher for East Kaua‘i was Ronnie Holt. Big hitters for East Kaua‘i were Victorino with 2-4, Ray Sam Fong with 2-3, Javier and Koerte with 3-4, and Youn with 3-3 with 5 RBI’s.
Kuku’s Aces came up with two runs with the first one coming across in the first inning on hits from Junior Ruiz and Gordon Doo. In the third inning Ruiz and Doo were again credited with hits with Doo getting the RBI.
The loser on the mound was Stanley Rita. Offensively, the Aces were led by Junior Ruiz with 2-2, Doo and Stanley Rita with 2-3.
Rookies 12, West Kaua‘i 10
West Kaua‘i came up with a single run in the first inning when Frank Bukoski hit a triple and scored on an error, but it wasn’t enough as the Rookies reached past West Kaua‘i, 12-10.
The Rookies kept the gap tight on West Kaua‘i. In the first inning Walter Souza drew a walk, Mike Folster had a single and Ray Espino drew a walk loading the bases. Stan Dela Cruz also drew a walk scoring Souza and Archie Fontanilla drew a walk scoring Folster. Charlie Carveiro hit a sac fly bringing in Espino.
Four runs were scored in the third inning on hits from Hank Nishikawa, Folster, Espino, Dela Cruz and Fontanilla. The Rookies created an almost identical performance in the fourth inning by scoring five runs on hits from Nishikawa, Folster, Espino, Dela Cruz, Fontanilla, Carveiro and Wally Sonoda. The winning pitcher was Fontanilla. Leading hitters were Espino with 2-3, Dela Cruz with 3-3, Nishikawa and Folster with 3-4.
K-Makule 10, Lihu‘e A’s 9
In a close game, K-Makule managed to squeeze by the Lihu‘e A’s, 10-9.
In the first inning K-Makule scored six big runs. With one out, Lefty Remata hit a single to center field followed by Gordon Arakaki with a walk. Danny Smith followed with a single loading the bases. Right fielder John Taboniar hit a double into right field scoring two runs. Meanwhile, Eddie Dela Cruz followed with a sac fly to center field scoring Smith.
K-Makule scored their final run in the third inning on hits from Ernest Domingo and Jerry Albarado with Domingo receiving the RBI.
The winning pitcher was Dado Paiste. Offensively, the winners were John Taboniar with 1-2, Lefty Remata, Jerry Albarado and Danny Smith with 2-4, Arakaki and Dela Cruz with 2-3. Smith also had a homerun and three RBI’s.
The Lihu‘e A’s scored three runs in the first inning on hits from Peter Rayno, Glenn Akina and Randy Tomlinson. Lihu‘e scored two more runs in the third inning by capitalizing on a K-Makule error and hits from Dwight Fujii and Tomoo Hiranaka.
The losing pitcher for Lihu‘e was Joe Brun. The big bats came from Rayno with 2-4, Fujii, Hiranaka and Akina with 3-4.
May 8 games Lihu‘e A’s 11, East Kauai 7
Lihu‘e overcame East Kaua‘i in six innings 11-7. The Lihu‘e bats sounded in the first inning scoring three runs on hits from Tomoo Hiranaka, John Oleksolv, Isamu Yoshoshige, Herbert Honjo, Shigeo Oshiro and Maurice Munechika.
Lihu‘e A’s final four runs came in the fifth inning when Munechika got on with a base hit followed by Ed Bales with a walk. Joe Brun hit a long ball scoring Munechika. Hiranaka drove another run on a hit to center field and Glenn Akina hit a sac fly for a third run. Oleksolv brought in the final run on a single. The winner on the mound for Lihu‘e was Joe Brun. The big bats came from Joe Brun with 1-2, Yoshoshige, Honjo, and Oshiro with 2-4, Hiranaka with 3-3, Okeksolv, and Munechika with 3-4.
East Kaua‘i got on the board in the first inning with two runs from two base hits from Damien Victorino and Dickie Koerte plus a walk to Ron Javier. Koerte was credited with the two RBI’s.

Kawaihau scored a single run in the first inning on a walk to Ron Alfonso and base hits from Blaine Davis, Paul Gusman, and Paul Awazu with Gusman credited with the RBI.
Two more runs in the third inning as a result of base hits from Bob Herrmann, Calvin Fujita, Ken Tamashiro, Ron Alfonso and a sac fly by Davis.
However, it wasn’t enough as East Kaua‘i destroyed Kawaihau 12-5.
The losing pitcher was Teddy Daligdig. Leading in the bat deparment were Alfonso and Davis with 2-2, Davis and Awazu with 2-3.
West Kaua‘i 21, Kuku’s Aces 2
West Kaua‘i dominated this game from the first inning by scoring the regulation seven run inning limit. Daniel Manus got on with a Kuku’s Aces error and taken out on a fielders choice hit by Boni Garma. Bukoski then hit a triple scoring Garma. Rittmeister hit a double scoring Bukoski and Bernard Mahuiki scored Rittmeister. Bernard Simao, Maxie Moreno, John Patt and Al Lomosad all followed with base hits with Moreno getting a RBI single and Patt getting two RBI’s.
The fifth inning again saw the regulation seven run inning limit. Seven base hits in this inning were credited to Garma, Bukoski, Rittmeister, Mahuiki, Pavao, Patt and Moniz.
The winning pitcher was Ben Aranio. On the offensive side, the winners were led by Garma, Mahuiki, and Pavao with 2-3, Bukoski, Rittmeister, and Patt with 3-3.
K-Makule 6, Rookies 5
In a close seven inning game, K-Makule took the Rookies by a Rookies error.
The Rookies came up big in the fourth inning. Wayne Hashimoto hit a ball up the center for a single. Ichii Chiba flew out to LF for out number one. Wally Sonoda and Walter Souza got on with two K-Makule errors on third baseman Gordon Arakaki, loading the bases. Hank Nishikawa then hit a sac fly to center scoring Hashimoto to tie the game 5-5. The game remained tied until the bottom of the seventh inning. Danny Smith hit a single to CF. John Taboniar made the second out with a fly ball to RF, however, Smith had tagged up and went to second. Eddie Dela Cruz got on with a Rookies second baseman error and Smith moved to third. Doric Remata then hit a long fly ball to Raymond Espino at center who provided K-Makule with a dropped ball error and the game.
The losing pitcher for the Rookies was Wally Sonoda, meanwhile, the winning pitcher for K-Makule was Dado Paiste.
Leading in the hitting department for the Rookies were Nelson Mendonca with 2-3, Wayne Hashimoto with 3-3, and Walter Souza with 3-4.
The K-Makule hitters were led by Dado Paiste with 2-3, Ernest Domingo, and John Taboniar with 2-4, Doric Remata with 3-4, and Danny Smith with 4-4.
