WAILUA — Lindsay Hong of Punahou was just one of many golfers who took advantage of a practice round at the Wailua Golf Course in preparation for the opening round which tees off starting at 7 a.m. today as the 2004 HHSAA/David S. Ishii Foundation Girls State Golf Championships gets underway.
Michelle Wie, who attends Punahou, will not be in attendance at this event, but four of her classmates will be as Erin Matsuoka, Hong, Jamie Nonaka, and Kimberly Tom will be representing Punahou at the championships.
Hong will be paired with Kaua‘i High School’s Kiilani Matsuyoshi, Kayla Morinaga of Sacred Hearts, and Christine Kim of Waiakea as they tee off at 7:08 a.m.
Miki Ueoka, another Red Raider golfer will be in the first group that tees off at 7 a.m.
Included in that group will be Mari Chun of Kamehameha, Megan Sakamoto of A‘iea, and Caressa Matsuoka of St. Andrews.
Groups tee off at eight-minute intervals with the final group leaving the tee at 9:08 a.m. Full pairings can be found on page B2.
There is no fee to watch the competition which features 36-hole medal play and low individual gross played on Wednesday and Thursday.
