Prep Surfing vote possible on May 20
Surfing as a high school sport is on the agenda for the May 20 meeting on the Valley Isle. The state Board of Education could vote at its May 20 meeting on Maui to recommend surfing as a high school sport. Yesterday, BOE chairman Breene Harimoto said surfing would be on the agenda for the meeting at ‘Iao Intermediate School. Many board members support surfing as a sport, but some want it a part of a broader water-sports policy.
