Kiahuna Golf Club’s Ron Castillo, Jr. birdied the second sudden death playoff hole to capture the Verizon Hall of Fame championship on Monday at Kapalua, Maui.
The Verizon Hall of Fame Championship is the first major tournament for the Aloha Section, PGA in 2004. Castillo’s win gives him the career “Grand Slam” for the Aloha Section, PGA, having won each of the four Aloha Section, PGA majors at least once.
The Kaua‘i native, has won the Section Stroke Play Championship, The Match Play Championship twice, and the Club Professional Championship.
Castillo, the Director of Golf at the Kiahuna Golf Club in Po‘ipu, had a two day total of 2-under-par 144. Castillo won in a two-hole playoff over Maui Makena Resort’s Head Professional, Kirk Nelson.
