SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Matthew Inouye hit an RBI double to cap a four-run seventh inning to lift Hawai‘i to a 6-5 victory over San Francisco on Wednesday.
The Rainbows (23-13) trailed the Dons 5-2 going into the inning. Schafer Magana hit a two-run single and scored on a throwing error before Inouye’s second RBI of the game. He also drove in a run with a single in the sixth.
Hawai‘i scored its first run of the game in the top of the first when Brian Finegan scored on a balk.
San Francisco (19-22) scored three runs in the third to take a 4-1 lead. Blake Nelson had an RBI single, Chris Genung came home on a wild pitch and Joe Jacobitz had an RBI triple.
UH reliever Keahi Rawlins (2-2) got the win. He gave up one run on one hit and a walk while striking out two over two innings. Ricky Bauer came in with two outs in the bottom of the ninth and threw a strikeout to get his first save of the season.
San Francisco reliever T.J. Franco (5-4) took the loss.
Hawai‘i opens a three-game series Friday at Fresno State.
