LIHU‘E — The Contractors Association of Kauai is holding its 12th annual Building and Remodeling Expo this weekend.
The event features displays of a wide variety of construction products, as well as experts in various fields related to construction and building materials. The event began immediately following the onslaught of Hurricane ‘Iniki in the fall of 1992. The event is aimed at informing and educating the public about construction materials, building supplies, products and services that are available for new construction, remodeling or rebuilding — three areas in much demand following the devastation of ‘Iniki which destroyed thousands of homes on Kaua‘i.
The expo is free and open today from 9 am. – 2:30 p.m. and is being held at the Kauai Veterans Center on Kapule Highway near Lihu‘e Airport.
The Contractors Association of Kauai was established in 1958 under the leadership of “Rosey” Maeda of Kauai Builders. Yasuo Minatoya of Lihu‘e is the last living charter member of the organization.
