U.S. Rep. Ed Case, D-Neighbor Islands-rural O‘ahu, is scheduled to visit Kaua‘i next week.
Case is home from Washington for a two-week spring working visit, and is visiting Hawai‘i, Maui and Kaua‘i counties.
The Kaua‘i visit is set for Tuesday, April 13, and the congressman’s party is to include Rep. Wayne Gilchrest of Maryland, chair of the House Resources Committee Subcommittee on Fisheries Conservation, Wildlife and Oceans.
The congressmen plan to tour Hanalei and Kilauea National Wildlife Refuges, visit Kauai Economic Opportunity in Lihu‘e, and host the annual award ceremony for semifinalists of the Kaha Ki‘i congressional arts competition.
Also on Case’s agenda is a speech to the Kapaa Business Association, the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce and the Lihue Business Association.
“It’s been a very full six weeks in Congress since the mid-February Presidents’ Day district work period, with major legislation like the budget and transportation, and with the fiscal year 2005 appropriations process up and running, I have a lot to report back to my constituents on,” said Case.
“I also have a number of organizations and efforts throughout the district who’ve wanted me to spend time with them, so this period will give me a chance to do that.”
