Kapa’a High School’s Billy Toy upped his game by a stroke from the first time they played Wailua three weeks ago. Travis Toguchi went better by ten strokes, but that still fell short as Waimea took the second place berth by three strokes following Saturday’s round of KIF Golf played at the Wailua Golf Course in misty rain.
Toy finished the day with a 78 followed a stroke back by Toguchi’s 79 and Jet Levinthol rounding out the Warrior leaders with an 87.
Waimea High School got a 74 from Noel Torres, four strokes ahead of Toy, followed by Markland Soliva finishing at 81 and Marjovic Soliva rounding out the Menehune leaders at 86.
Kaua‘i boys continued their winning streak, picking up their fourth straight victory in as many outings, the team finishing at 289 followed by Waimea at 333 and Kapa‘a at 336.
The Red Raiders’ team play was led by Allan Baab who tied with individualist Cory French to finish at 69. Bred Netzer finished with a 72 followed a stroke back by Chad Nonaka’s 73 to round out the team leaders for Kaua‘i.
In individualist play, French topped the boys with his 69 with Kula High School’s Sean Ogawa following a stroke back at 70. Kapa‘a’s Broderick Saiki topped their individual play with 90 with Ryn Guzman leading the Menehune individualists with a 99.
The Kaua‘i girls finished with a 233 behind their team captains Jennie Pleas and Kiilani Matsuyoshi who closed with a 76 and 77 respectively. Miki Ueoka topped the girls individualist play with a 77, tying with Matsuyoshi.
Robyn Nakata was the sole Menehune wahine golfer who closed at 106.
