BYUH’s Chrisman all-American
LA‘IE, O‘ahu —Brigham Young University-Hawai‘i junior forward Jake Chrisman earned Division II Bulletin Honorable Mention All-American Friday. Chrisman was the only Pacific West Conference player honored by the Bulletin. He received Daktronics Third Team All-American honors from the College Sports Information Directors Association earlier this year.
Chrisman, from Provo, Utah, became just the fourth player in BYU-Hawai‘i’s history to average over 20 points per game as he led the PacWest Conference and was eighth nationally with a 23.3 points per game average during the season and playoffs.
Chrisman connected on 57.8 percent of his shots, good for second in the PacWest, and 24th nationally. He grabbed 5.7 rebounds per game and was named PacWest Player of the Week five times. He scored a season-high 42 points at Montana State Billings in February, the third highest point total in Seasider history. He was also named to the Hawai‘i Surf’N Slam All-Tournament team.
Na‘ia race Thursday
Nawiliwili Yacht Club’s Nai‘a (Porpoise) Race Series continues Thursday, Apr. 8th. The 2nd race of the series will begin at 5 p.m. at Nawiliwili Harbor.
The public is invited to view the race from the harbor jetty, as well as to attend the gathering at the Nawiliwili Yacht Club clubhouse immediately following the race.

Softball for cancer
The call is on for teams interested in participating in the Connie’s Fights & Survivors Open Men’s Softball Tournament that will take place from Apr. 30 through May 2 at the Kekaha Ball Park.
Deadline for entry forms is Apr. 16.
Entry fee is $175 per team and all proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society and the Relay for Life.

BYUH women’s tennis sweep
LA‘IE, O‘AHU —The top-ranked Brigham Young University-Hawai‘i women’s tennis team defeated 16th-ranked UC San Diego, 9-0 to run their winning streak to 89 consecutive dual matches and improve to 23-0 for the season. The Seasiders swept the three doubles matches, losing just a total of three games, and then took all six singles matches.
Judy Weng and Amy Sun swept to 6-0, -0 wins at numbers four and five singles to lead the singles competition after combining for an 8-0 victory at number two doubles. Second-ranked Adrienn Hegedus and fourth-ranked Jing Jing Liu each dropped just one game in winning at the top two singles slots and took an 8-2 victory together at the top doubles position. Anna Lewis and Guirianna Korinihona completed the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win in the third spot and Korinihona earned a straight set, 6-2, 6-2 win at number six singles. Lewis had to rally from being down a set to take the third singles slot with a super tiebreaker victory, 4-6, 6-4(10-5).
