Michael Perel is now the chief financial officer for the Kaua‘i region of the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
The Kaua‘i region includes West Kauai Medical Center at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital, Mahelona Medical Center and West Kauai Clinics.
Perel has been working at West Kauai Medical Center for seven years.
Previously, on Kaua‘i, he served three years as comptroller for a major Kaua‘i restaurant. Perel is originally from the East Coast. He worked for 15 years in public accounting in New York City, and operated a wholesale commercial seafood business in Provincetown, Mass., for 13 years.
He’s been a public servant in a number of capacities, including chair of Provincetown Finance Committee, Provincetown representative on the Cape Cod National Seashore Advisory Commission, and member of the Provincetown Board of Selectmen.
His wife Helene is the manager of Borders Books Music & Cafe in Lihu‘e.
