Ogihara gets close in senior golf
Kiyoshi Ogihara, tying for second in the “A” Flight with Toki Uyeno, got the closest to hole No. 17 at the Wailua Golf Course at the Kaua‘i Seniors Golf Club Tournament played on Feb. 28.
Tony Nakamura shot a 68, two strokes better than Uyeno and Ogihara to capture the top purse in the “A” Flight.
Bob Bradley was a stroke better than Jim McDowell to take the top prize in the “B” Flight competition, Bradley finishing with a 70.
Jack Frankfort topped the “C” flight with a 69, a stroke ahead of Lindy Akita and three strokes better than Peter Kim, Gordon Ball, and Shirley Akita who tied for third place with 72.

Chrisman WAC Player of the Week, again!
LAIE, O‘ahu — Jake Chrisman, Brigham Young University-Hawai‘i junior forward has been named the Pacific West Conference Player of the Week for the fifth time this season. No other conference player has been honored more than twice. Chrisman led the Seasiders to two wins last week including a win over second-place University of Hawai‘i-Hilo that clinched the conference title for BYUH.
Chrisman, from Provo, Utah, scored 83 points in three games this past week for a 27.7 average. He scored 24 in the title-clinching win on Tuesday as well as grabbing a career-high matching 12 rebounds. He followed that with 30 points in a loss to UH-Hilo, and 29 in a road win over Chaminade.
For the week, Chrisman hit 32.47 (.681) from the field, 6-10 (.600) from three-point range, and 13-17 (.765) from the free throw line. He grabbed 20 rebounds, had five assists, five blocks, and three steals for the week.
Chrisman moved into first place in the conference in scoring with a 22.6 points per game average, and is tenth in rebounds (5.4 rpg) and second in field goal percentage (58.4).
