Raymond Balai of Kapa‘a, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on February 21, 2004 at the age of 65.
Born in Hilo, Hawai‘i on November 20, 1938 he was a Equipment Operator with Lihue Plantation.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Brede Balai; six sons, Thomas Balai of Kapa‘a, Hoanostakio Balai of Kapa‘a, Gilbert (Julieann) Balai Sr., of Anahola, Brady Balai of Honolulu, Joseph Balai of Honolulu and Earl (Tina) Balai Sr. of Kapa‘a; two daughters, Merlayne I. Low of Kapa‘a and Antoinette Balai of Honolulu; three brothers, Ismael (Bessy) Balai of Volcano, Hawai‘i, James Balai of Honolulu and Joseph Pinero of Honolulu; three sisters, Margaret (Richard) Tangaro of Reno Nevada, Frances (Mar) Murillo of Honolulu and Tina (Lawrence) Alamoot of Honolulu; In-laws, William A. Jr. and Juliette Brede, 20 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren;
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 6, at Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Kapa‘a Ward; service officiated b y Bishop Ron Lee Velesko will begin at 11 a.m. Followed by burial at Kapa‘a Public Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Kungo Iwai of Lihu‘e, died at home on Februray 24, 2004 at the age of 85.
Born in Kapa‘a, on February 16, 1919, he was a Veteran with the 100th Infantry Battalion.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred M. Iwai; four sons, Tag (Barbara) Iwai of Dally City, CA., Chuck Iwai of Honolulu, Noel Iwai of Prince George, BC, Canada and Cliff (Sachiko) Iwai of Santa Monica, CA.; daughter, Susan (Matthew) Honjiyo of Wailua; grandson, David Iwai of Victoria, BC, Canada; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were private.
