Jennie Rapozo
Jennie Arruda Rapozo, of Kapa‘a, died on Feb. 5, 2004 in Gilroy, Calif., at the age of 89.
Born in Kealia on Dec. 26, 1914, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, Douglas E. Rapozo of Aromas, Calif.; one daughter, Janice (Robert) McPeek of Saratoga, Calif.; two granddaughters, Jean (Kevin) Shanahan of Antioch, Calif., Molly Rapozo of Seattle, Wash., one grandson, Jack Douglas Rapozo of Seattle, Wash.; three sisters, Helen (Alfonso) Fial of California, Lydia Rodrigues of Texas, Florence Carvalho of Oregon; three brothers, Tony Arruda of Kapahi, Henry (Alice) Arruda of Lihu‘e, and John Arruda of California.
Private services are under arrangement.
Katherine Heitmann
Katherine “Cotton” Heitmann of Ventura, Calif., died Feb. 2, 2004, at the age of 83.
Mrs. Heitmann also lived in Santa Cruz, Calif, and Kaua‘i. She earned a teaching degree in physical education at the University of California— Berkeley.
She is survived by her daughter, Ellie Johnson of San Ramon, Calif.; sons, George Heitmann of Santa Cruz, Calif., Henak Heitmann of Santa Cruz, Charlie Heitmann of Watsonville and Norman Heitmann of Ventura, Calif.; sister, Toby Steelhammer of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; brother, George West of Danville, Calif. and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb 14, at Cowell’s Beach in Santa Cruz.
Charles W. Pratus
Charles W. Pratus of Princeville died in Honolulu on Feb. 3, 2004, at the age of 88.
Born in Elizabeth, Pa., on June 27, 1915, he was a retired chief of engineering with The Country Club.
He is survived by one daughter, Lynn McCrory of Princeville, and one son Charles (Susie) Pratus Jr.; three grandchildren; two sisters, Ann Snyder of San Antonio, Texas and Helen Cisan of Anaheim, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at Hanamaulu Restaurant & Tea House from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on Feb. 25, with service at 4 p.m. The family suggests casual or aloha attire and that flowers be omitted
