Representatives of Kimura International, Inc. are holding a public meeting this Thursday, Jan. 29, on the County of Kaua’i’s proposed Lydgate Park-to-Kapa’a bike and pedestrian path.
The meeting is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Kapa’a Middle School cafeteria.
Officials from the county Department of Public Works are evaluating alternative alignments and preparing an environmental assessment for the proposed path.
The Lydgate Park-Kapa’a bike and pedestrian path is to extend from the northern terminus of the existing multi-use path at Lydgate Park to the Waika’ea Canal, which is located makai of Kapa’a Shopping Center.
The project also includes two other segments, one path section connecting the Lydgate-Kapa’a bike and pedestrian path to the Wailua Houselots Park and Sleeping Giant hiking trail head off Haleilio Road, and a segment connecting the Kawaihau Road bike and pedestrian path to the Kapa’a-Kealia bike and pedestrian path.
As part of the planning process, a series of public meetings are planned to gather input and feedback from members of the community.
Meeting participants are being asked to help county officials in identifying potential pathways and issues of concern.
