LAIE, HI – The Brigham Young University-Hawai’i men’s basketball team ranks second in the West Region in the NCAA II Regional Poll released Wednesday.
The poll, the first of the season, places the Seasiders behind only Cal State-San Bernardino among regional teams. The regional poll ultimately determines which teams will receive bids to the NCAA II tournament in March. The top eight teams in the final regional poll will receive tournament bids.
The Seasiders, 14-2 on the season, currently lead the Pacific West Conference with a 4-0 mark. The PacWest winner receives an automatic bid to the NCAA II tournament. Two other PacWest teams, UH-Hilo and Montana State-Billings, hold spots in the regional top ten, with UH-Hilo sixth, and MSUB, tenth.
West Region top ten include Cal State-San Bernardino (12-1), BYU-H (14-2), Cal State-Bakersfield (11-2), Humboldt State (14-3), Alaska-Anchorage (12-4), UH-Hilo (11-3), Cal Poly Pomona (9-4), Western Washington (10-5), Alaska-Fairbanks (9-5), Montana State-Billings (9-4).
