Eloise Oclit
Eloise Ululani Kaneakua Oclit “Kupuna Tutu” of Kapa’a, died on Dec. 24, 2003 at her Kapa’a beach home at the age of 61.
Born on Kaua’i on March 19, 1942, she was a well-known professional entertainer and singer for many years. She was the owner of Pau Hana Bar, Ding’s Cocktail Lounge, Tawai Tai Executive Lounge and co-owner of Ding’s Construction.
She was also a Pa’u Rider who represented all Hawaiian Islands; Pa’u Queen; and Grand Marshall in the Kamehameha Day Parades and a participant in the Aloha Week Festivals.
She was also the official emcee for the Jerry Lewis Telethons, “Iku lani” of Hale O Na ‘Ali’i (Halau O Kapi’olani).
She was formerly with Wilcox Hospital Adult Daycare, and was a Kupuna of Hawaiian studies and the Hawaiian Language programs at Wilcox Elementary School and Kapa’a Middle School.
She is preceded in death by her son Fendel “Del” Oclit. She is survived by her husband, Fendel “Ding” P. Oclit; five sons, Keoua Kaneakua (hanai), Kimo Kaneakua, James Yap, Jonathan Oclit and Dean Oclit; three daughters, Ginger Kaneakua, Donna Nunes and Frankie Oclit; 35 grand-children; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Jan. 3 at the Kapa’a First Hawaiian Church from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. with services to follow. Casual attire is suggested.

Frank Medeiros
Frank E. “Uncle Frank” Medeiros of Kapa’a, died at his home on Dec. 16, 2003 at the age of 87.
Born in Makawao, Maui on Dec. 16, 2003 he did maintenance throughout Mahelona Hospital and was the boiler operator for the Hospital.
In 1997 he was selected by the Kaua’i Museum as a “Kauai Living Treasure.” He was a coach for 13 years with the Catholic Youth Organization at St. Catherine’s, he coached Little League, he was employed at Pearl Harbor during World War II, he played semi-professional baseball as a pitcher; he belonged to the Young Farmers; he was an avid fisherman; and shared a life-long connection and love of the ocean. In 1978 he retired and became a rancher and raised cattle and horses.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes M. Medeiros of Kapa’a; two sons, Frank R. (Mary Lou) Medeiros of Kapa’a, Collins M. (Lorna) Medeiros of Kapa’a; two daughters, Agnes Linda (James) Freitas of Kapa’a, Patricia M. Medeiros of Lihu’e; brother, John (Gloria) Medeiros of O’ahu; three sisters, Florence Puana of O’ahu, Rosaline Fryer of O’ahu, Cecelia Rhodes of O’ahu; two sisters-in-law, Delphine Medeiros of O’ahu, Roselind Medeiros of California; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Jan. 10, 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church at 11 a.m. Mass to begin at 11 a.m. with Father Jim Orsini. Friends are invited to join the family for lunch at church following mass.

Juanito Labrador
Juanito Labrador of Koloa, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Dec. 24, 2003 at the age of 77.
Born in Koloa on Jan. 30, 1926, he was an equipment operator for McBryde Sugar Plantation.
He is survived by three sisters, Rose (Barney) Wagner of Honolulu, Ida Mendoza of Honolulu, Florence (Mo) Antiago of California; two brothers, Larry (Lillian) Labrador of Florida and Perfecto (Rose) Labrador of Lihu’e, numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Jan. 3, from 8 to 9 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Church. Service to begin at 9 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Raphael’s Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Larry Wong
Larry Ah Chin Wong of Koloa, died at his residence on Dec. 27, 2003 at the age of 89.
He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II and retired from the County of Kaua’i Department of Public Works.
He is survived by his wife, Miriam Napua (Mundon); daughters, Mokihana Charlotte (Roland) Ruiz, Miriam Napua (Tony) Romo, Ruth K. (Dan) Inafuku of Maili, Paula L. Wong of Manoa, and Tamara (Boone) Morrison of Volcano Village; sons, Amos Wong, Stanley (Maralani) Wong of Waipahu, and Lawrence Wong of Wahiawa, 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Jan. 8, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary from 8 a.m. Service to begin at 10 a.m. with military honors at the Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery to follow.
