PUHI — The construction of Regency at Puakea retirement and assisted living community is progressing well, said Regency Marketing Director Karen Davis.
“It’s going by pretty fast,” said Davis. “It is something that this island has needed for a long time.
“It gives them (senior citizens) less stress.”
The facility, located near Chiefess Middle School, should be up and running by late January of 2004.
Regency began accepting applications on Oct. 20 and, thus far, have received seven deposits although three individuals could also sign up.
The construction features 82 apartments on 5.65 acres of land in between Chiefess and the Puakea Golf Course.
“The views are gorgeous,” said Davis. “They get panoramic views of the golf course, the mountains and the ocean.”
Regency at Puakea is a month-to-month rental senior apartment facility that incorporates personal services within the rental rate.
“The basis of our philosophy for providing services is to support a resident’s right to remain as independent as possible in a setting that is residential but still supportive.”
Two apartment buildings are indirectly attached to a clubhouse.
One apartment building is specially designed to accommodate persons needing some assistance with activities of daily living.
The other apartment building is designed for active and mobile seniors. The clubhouse contains dining rooms, recreational facilities and business offices.
