YMCA roller hockey on for January
Registration for the YMCA of Kauai Roller Hockey League’s 2004 season is starting. The league is open to boys and girls ages 6 – 17, with or without previous experience. League play will begin in Jan. 2004. Call 245-3358 for registration forms.
Bowl for Hanalei Canoe Club
The Hanalei Civic Canoe Club will hold a bowling fund-raiser Saturday, Nov. 15. Registration will be held from 5 to 6 p.m., with the event from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lihu‘e Bowling Center.

Kaua‘i, Waimea volleyball lose openers at state
HONOLULU — The Kaua‘i High School girls and Waimea High School boys volleyball both lost their opening bid at the 2003 Nissan State Volleyball Championships Tuesday.
Kaua‘i, leading 23-18 in game one against the Moanalua Menehune, succumbed after Moanalua punched through seven unanswered points. Kaua‘i lost 23-25, 20-25.
Alyssa Hout led Moanalua with 11 kills and eight digs followed by Resina Natamiela who finished with nine kills.
Kehau Silva led the Red Raiders with nine kills, Holly Iloreta had nine digs, and Jodi Miyashiro fired a pair of aces in the loss.
Kaua‘i, relegated to the consolation bracket, will take to the floor on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. against the loser of the Kamehameha-Maui/Kahuku matchup.
Waimea boys also had the lead 16-8 in game one before dropping to Mililani 24-26, 22-25.
Aaron Fujimoto and Jesse Neuman led the Trojans with 11 kills each while Josh Cabral led Waimea with six kills and three blocks.
Kasey Kaohelaulii had seven kills, and Erwin Wright finished with five kills and four blocks.
Waimea will play Campbell on Wednesday afternoon starting at 2 p.m.
Live fire exercises continue in Kekaha
The Garden Island Shooting Club will be conducting Small Arms Live Fire Exercises at the Kekaha Rifle Range on the following dates between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.:
Sunday, Nov. 16, Sunday, Nov. 23, Sunday, Dec. 7, Sunday, Dec. 21.
No person or vehicle is to enter the danger area within one mile from the circular center of the range control during the specified danger period.
