Stephen B. Barlow
Stephen B. Barlow of Mandan, N.D. and Kaua‘i, died Oct. 26, 2003, at his home. Services were held Oct. 29 at First Evangelical Free Church, Bismarck, N.D. and Oct. 30, at Friendship Church, Shakopee, Minn. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, St. Paul, Minn.
Born June 9, 1929, in Sat. Paul, Minn., he graduated from Wilson High School in 1947 and served in the U.S. Army at Fort Riley, Kan., from 1951 to 1953.
He married Linda (Mattson) Rittgers on Aug. 11, 1978. Together they developed Barlow’s Miracle Mart, Inc. with five supermarkets in Minot, Bismarck, and Mandan, N.D.
Throughout his business career, he was president of NARGUS (National Association of Retail Grocers of the United States). He was inducted into the Minnesota and North Dakota Grocers Hall of Fame and received the Clarence Academy Award. He also was awarded the National Grocers Association Industry Service Awards and sat as Chairman of the Grocers Research and Education Association for six years.
He and his wife worshiped at Kalaheo Missionary Church. He loved hunting, fishing, golf, and life in North Sakota.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, of Mandan, N.D.; five children; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Florencio Delos Santos Sr.
Florencio Delos Santos Sr. of Hanapepe, died at Kauai Care Center on Nov. 1, 2003 at the age of 97.
Born in Las Pinas, Rizal, Philippines, on Nov. 10, 1906, he was a Master Sergeant with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by wife, Trinidad B. Delos Santos of Hanapepe; three sons, Florencio Delos Santos, Jr. of Manila, Philippines, George Delos Santos of Las Vegas, Nev. and Eddie Delos Santos of Las Vegas, Nev.; three daughters, Caridad S. Guinto of San Diego, Calif., Josephine S. Althaus of Jeffersonville, Ind. and Virginia “Gigi” Delos Santos of Hanapepe; 25 grandchildren; numerous nieces.
Friends may visit with the family from noon – 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo; Mass officiated by Father Nap will begin at 1 p.m. Followed by burial at the Kauai Veteran’s cemetery in Hanapepe. Casual attire is suggested.
