Lihu‘e baseball registration next week
Registration for the Lihu‘e Baseball League’s Shetland and Pinto division players and coaches will take place Nov. 12 – 21 at the Lihu‘e County Park behind the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall parking lot 5 – 6 p.m. each day.
Players in the Shetland Division need to be ages 5 – 7, Pinto Division players 7 – 9 years old.
Parents need to bring two copies of the child’s birth certificate, two copies of the family’s current medical insurance card, and $35 registration fee.
Coaches are also needed to help coach the two divisions. Application forms will be available at the registration site. For more information, call the Lihu‘e Baseball League at 245-3251.
Wahine Softball Classic starts Saturday
HONOLULU — The University of Hawai‘i softball team concludes its fall by hosting the Hawai‘i Kama‘aina Fall Classic Softball Tournament Friday, Nov. 7 – Sunday, Nov. 9 at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Head coach Bob Coolen who begins his 13th season at the helm of the Rainbow Wahine has a good mixture of veterans and youth to fill this year’s squad, whcih is fresh off a 2003 Western Athletic Conference Championship.
There is no admission to the games, but parking is $3 per car. All games are exhibitions and no statistics will be available online.
The Classic involves six teams UH Green, UH White, BYU-Hawai‘i, Chaminade, Hawai‘i-Hilo and Hawai‘i Pacific. See the tournament schedule on page B2.
Tongg to appear at polo book signing
In Tuesday’s announcement regarding a Nov. 9 book signing for “The Golden Mallet,” polo player Ronnie Tongg’s age was misstated. Tongg is 58. He will be at Kilohana for the book signing from 2 to 4 p.m. Tongg has played polo on Kaua‘i since 1983 and plans to return for the summer season to play with the Kauai Polo Club.
