Potential PMRF land expansion detailed

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources is scheduled to hold a public meeting to receive testimony on the Pacific Missile Range Facility’s proposed “passive encroachment buffer” surrounding the base. The meeting is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov.

A U.S. Navy spokesperson says Navy officials want to make sure the land stays in agriculture. Residents worry that the land requested as a buffer might further limit access to the Westside.

The dark area in the map above is the proposed “buffer.”

The light area is the land Navy officials are asking to lease.
