Mitsugi Nishihara
Mitsugi Nishihara of Koloa died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Sept. 27, 2003, at the age of 97.
Born in Halehaka, Kaua‘i on Sept. 13, 1906, he was a retired salesman with Lihue Plantation Store.
Preceded in death by sons, Albert and Howard, he is survived by his wife, Kamee; four daughters, Ann Ayabe of Kaneohe, O‘ahu; Edna Holdeman of Kalaheo, Gloria Young of Pacific Palisades, Calif., and Thelma Chikuma of Bellevue, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the family at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, at Kalaheo Missionary Church; service officiated by Pastor Niles Kageyama will begin at 4:30 pm.
Casual attire is suggested and that flowers be omitted. Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Yukio Harioka
Yukio Harioka of Hanapepe Hts. died at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on Oct. 6, 2003 at the age of 86.
Born in Makaweli on Dec. 13, 1916, he was a retired carpenter with Kekaha Sugar Co.
He is survived by wife, Kimiye Harioka; son, Vincent (Gail) Harioka of Waipahu, Oahu; one grandchild; brother, Yoneji (Lillian) Harioka of Pearl City, O‘ahu; three sisters, Shizue Yokotake of Waipahu, O‘ahu, Akiko (Masahiki) Nagata of Kalaheo, and Miharu Mizoguchi of Pukalani, Maui; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were private. Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Antonia Calumag
Antonia Dumlao Calumag of Kapa‘a, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Oct. 9, 2003 at the age of 85.
Born in the Philippines on May 18, 1918, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Ceferino Calumag of Kapa‘a; two sons, Eddie (Lolita) Calumag of Kapa‘a, Fred Calumag of the Philippines; four daughters, Aning Calumag, Caring Calumag, Rosie Calumag, Ester Delos Santos of the Philippines; two grandchildren, Allen and Eileen of Kapa‘a; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews in the Philippines.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Oct. 24, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 – 9 p.m. and again on Saturday, Oct. 25, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 9 – 10:45 a.m. where services will be at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Lihu‘e Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Seiyei Matsuda
Seiyei Stanley Matsuda of Aiea, died on Oct. 11, 2003 at the age of 79.
Born in Makaweli, of June 26, 1924, he is a retired electrician from Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard Shop 06 and retired maintenance manager at Harbor Shores Apartments Hotel.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; daughters, Sandy (Owen) Kamiya of Aiea, Karen (Al) McCollum of Aiea, Pam (Kenneth) Tomi of Aiea and Jill (Wade) Kagawa of Aiea; brothers, Miyoshi (Madeline) Matsuda of Kaua‘i, Shigeo Matsuda of California and Ikuo (Yoshi) Matsuda of California; sisters, Nobuko “Nan” Oyakawa of Honolulu and Mieko (Toku) Nishikawa of Pearl City; nine grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, Oct. 19 from 4 – 8 p.m. at Borthwick Mortuary; service 5 p.m. Committal service 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Casual attire is suggested.
