A 37-year-old local man was seriously injured in a one-vehicle motorcycle crash near the Upper Kapahi Reservoir Sunday evening.
At about 6 p.m., police were called to the area after a passerby reported seeing a man laying on the side of the road.
Emergency medical crews from American Medical Response found the man laying on his right side. He appeared to have suffered numerous abrasions to his face, and blood was pooled around his head, according to a report on the police scanner. The report said it was uncertain how long the man had been on the ground.
An initial observation found that blood seemed to be coming from his right eye and ear, according to the report. The man was rushed to the emergency room at Wilcox Memorial Hospital arriving at 6:20 p.m. for further treatment. The AMR personnel also took precautions to stabilize the victim’s neck and back. His arms and legs were normal, as were initial vital signs such as blood pressure.
The scene of the crash is the same reservoir into which a Kapa‘a teen fatally overturned his truck last Nov. 5.
