Menehune shoot to win

Waimea High School’s Brian Martin was a point better than fellow Menehune Kori Sakahashi to lead the Waimea air riflery squad to a win over Kapa‘a last Thursday, 1,104 – 924 as the top five Menehune marksmen posted 200-plus scores.

Jennie Ueno paced the Menehune girls to an 1,100 – 907 win over the Kapa‘a women at that same KIF matchup held at the Kapa‘a High School range.

Sakahashi posted a high 81 points in the kneeling position but was overtaken by Martin’s 91-89 showing in the prone and 68 – 66 margin in the standing position for the lead.

The Kapa‘a boys were led by Joel Miyashiro, who posted a 221 outing with Traman Lucran finishing at 199 points, while the Kapa‘a women were led by Brittney Sutton’s 209 points followed by Shekaina Ortal, who posted a 193.
