The Grand Slam Golf Tournament is a great boost to Kauai’s economy and everything possible should be done to attract visitors as well as locals to this well-exposed event. There will be a huge let-down in spectator attendance without Tiger Woods participating. One suggestion: The Grand Slam Committee should invite Michelle Wie as a guest player even if it has to be a 5-some. She has a tremendous following everywhere she plays and I’m sure that one so talented and young will more than fill in the gap. There might be a parking problem tho-which is a good one if this move can fill in the golf course with spectators.
Also, Michelle’s parents should be included since they are always with her in most of her playing career in golf. Being an amateur, she will not be paid and this is a very reasonable move, especially when you consider her drawing power, for CHARITY perhaps? This will be a big boost for the Jr. Golf program also since as many Jr. Golfers as can will be sure to attend just to see her drive the ball. Adults will flock to this event just to see her swing.
As promo, Kauai Golf Caps could be supplied to the participating golfers and caddies-T-Shirts too!
Also, creating interest among the youngsters on Kauai will deter them from drugs, alcohol and other harmful activities. Michelle is a one person HVB-we should capitalize on her popularity!
