Kaua‘i golf team tees off at Hogan Memorial Cup

Hawai‘i State Junior Golf Association’s team of Cory French, Sean Ogawa, Chris Caycayon and Kellen Watabu, captained by HSJGA President Mary Bea Porter-King is in 8th place with a 229 after the first round of the Eddie Hogan Memorial Cup.

All four boys are from Kaua‘i.

Twelve Western teams, including British Columbia competed on Saturday, on a very tight an fast Par 72, 6626 yard Riverside Country Club in Portland, Oregon.

The home team from Oregon holds a six stroke lead at 210, followed by Washing-216; Southern California-217; Utah-219; Oregon II-224; Hawai’i-229; San Diego-230; British Columbia-233, Arizona-239 and Nevada-240.

First round individual results are: Cory French-73; Sean Ogawa-76; Chris Caycayon-80; and Kellen Watabu-84.

The selection of the Hogan’s Cup team (and other HSJGA team events) is based upon HSJGA’s Player of the Year Points System.
