Leonard Manguchei
Leonard Manguchei of Wailua Homesteads died at Molokai General Hospital on July 17, 2003 at the age of 60.
Born on Kaua‘i on Oct. 30, 1942, he was a retired plumber with Local 675.
Preceded in death by father, Manuel Manguchei, Sr. and brother, Manuel Jr. He is survived by wife, Marie Silva Manguchei; two daughters, Maryanna Manguchei of Wailua Homesteads and BJ (Manny) Hodges of Kapahi; granddaughter, Maile Hodges; mother, Julia Manguchei; two brothers, Leroy (Matilda) Manguchei of Brownsville, Texas and Michael (Ida) Manguchei of Kapahi; sister-in-law, Mary Manguchei of Wailua Homesteads; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on July 24, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; mass officiated by Father Paul will begin at 11 a.m. Followed by burial at the Kauai Memorial Gardens. Casual attire is suggested.

Wallace J. Takemoto of Wailua Homesteads, died at his residence on July 19, 2003 at the age of 88.
Born on Kaua‘i on Oct. 25, 1914, he was a retired proprietor of Wally’s Mobil in Minneapolis.
He is survived by his wife, Tsugime; son, Jack John Takemoto of Elmwood, Nebraska; two daughters, Lei Ann Takemoto of Lihu‘e and Joyce Faye Takemoto of Castro Valley, CA.; granddaughter, Tinina Takemoto Olores; great-granddaughter, Mahina Yuhi Olores; brother, Makoto Takemoto of Minnesota; two sisters, Kimiyo Fujimoto of Lihu‘e and Natsue Nagai of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, July 26, 11 a.m. at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery where a memorial service will be held. Casual attire is suggested.

Felicitas Basug
Felicitas Basug of Koloa, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, July 8, 2003 at the age of 90.
Born in the Philippines on January 13, 1913, she was a care home operator.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marie Helen (Kayetano) Gerardo of Koloa, Florenda (Isidro) Hermosura of Pearl City; one brother, John (Matida) Andres, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 25, at St. Raphael’s Church from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. where mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Casual attire is suggested.

Brigida C. Cardiz of Lihu‘e, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, July 11, 2003 at the age of 90.
Born in Bacarra Ilocos Norte, Philippines on January 29, 1913, she was a laborer for the pineapple industry.
She is survived by her eight children, Eulalio (Ester) Cadiz of Kapa‘a, Veronica (Rudy) Cachola of Lihu‘e, Melecio (Sencia) Cadiz of California, Alfreda Villa of Hanama‘ulu, Trifonia Bolosan of Kalihi, Nena Pescador or Lihu‘e, Carmen (Rudy) Alcantra of Lihu‘e, Irineo (Berna) Cadiz of Pearl City; brothers and sisters, Mauro (Emilia) Galiza of Kapa‘a, Maria (Federico) Bolosan of Kalihi, Eugenia Acob of Waipahu, Federico (Caridad) Cadiente of Hanama‘ulu; 28 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 25, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6-9 p.m. and again on Saturday, July 26, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo from 8-9:45 a.m. where mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Casual attire is suggested.
