Sailboat runs aground at Hanalei Bay

The Kaua`i Fire Department reported that “Celeration,” a 36 foot single masted union sailboat ran aground at low tide on the reef at Hanalei Bay Friday morning.

The U.S. Coast Guard was notified and the Kauai Fire Department reported no fuel spill or injuries to the lone sailor aboard.

Acting Battalion Chief Michael Andrade reported that efforts have been made to secure the boat.

A report from Hanalei Friday afternoon said the boat had been dislodged from the reef at high tide.
