Da Wahines 13, Kraks 11 Lihue—Da Wahines kept the momentum going as they won The Kraks 13-11 in seven innings on Saturday, July 5.
Darci Murata took to the mound for Da Wahines. She struck out four batters, walked 19 and allowed 11 runs on eight hits. Da Wahines defense committed two errors. Pitching for the Kraks was Kanoe Carveiro. She hurled three strikeouts, walked six and allowed 13 runs on 11 hits.
They committed three errors. Offensively, Da Wahines were lead by Samantha Koga and Randi Oketani. Koga went 3-4 with a single, a double and a triple. She had three stolen bases and scored three runs. Oketani went 1-3 with a single. She had three stolen bases and scored three runs.
The Kraks were lead by Nata and Carverio. Nata went 2-2 with two scored runs. Carverio went 3-5 with a single and a triple and scored a run. Da Wahines will host Hokuala Wednesday, July 9 at Isenberg. The Native Gurlz will host the Kraks at the New Kapaa Ball Park on Wednesday, games to start at 5:30 p.m.
Hokuala 20, Wi Kea Moa 0
Hokuala still remains the only undefeated team in the Jr. Olympic softball league. This time they were lead to a four-hit shutout that came from the pitching of Dusty Farias, who pitched the entire six innings of play.
Farias had a strikeout, walked four batters and allowed no runs on four hits. Hokuala’s defense committed no errors.
Taking the loss for Wi Kea Moa was Shyanne Sagawa. She struck out one batter, walked seven and allowed twenty runs on sixteen hits. Hokuala’s offense was lead by Brittany Brackenridge, Wailana Borrero, and Shantell Wong. Brackenridge went 3 – 4 with a stolen base and scored four runs. Borrero went 2 – 4 with four scored runs. Wong went 4 – 5 with three singles and a double. She also scored three runs.
Offensively, leading Wi Kea Moa were Dale Ann Perreira, Tatum Gonsalves and Tisha Remata. Perreira had two hits both were singles. Gonsalves had a double and Remata had a single.
Na Wahine sweeps Island Rebels 11-0, 6-3
Game 1
Waimea — The Na Wahines hosted the Island Rebels at Waimea Ball Park on Saturday, July 5. The game was called early due to the 10-run rule in the bottom of the fifth. The Na Wahines took the contest 11-0.
The team was lead by the pitching of Lynette Perreira. She hurled two strikeouts, walked no batters and allowed no runs on five hits. The Na Wahines committed three defensive errors.
Taking the loss for the Island Rebels was Sherri Gebauer. She pitched two strikeouts, walked one and allowed eleven runs on six hits. The Rebels defense committed ten errors.
The Na Wahines offense was lead by Melissa Moreno and Kodi Oyama. Moreno went 1-2 with three scored runs. Oyama went 2-3 with two scored runs and a homer. The Rebels offense was lead by Jenna Mercado and Kainoa Dejos. Mercado and Dejos each went 1-2.
Game 2
Even with a late rally in the top of the seventh, the Island Rebels couldn’t catch up to the Na Wahines’ lead. They took the contest 6-3 in seven innings.
Lynette Perreira led her team to victory. She struck out five batters; walked three and allowed three runs on five hits. The Na Wahines committed two defensive errors. Sherri Gebauer took the loss for the Island Rebels. She pitched four strikeouts, walked three and allowed six runs on seven hits. Defensively, the Rebels committed five errors.
Daelene Perreira and Kodi Oyama lead the way for the Na Wahines. Perreira 3-4 with two scored runs and Oyama went 2-3 with two scored runs. Starting the rally in the seventh inning was Gebauer, who went 1-2 with a scored run. Jordan Ramboyan went 2-3 with a scored run and Kuulei Manintin went 2-3 with a scored run.
The next game is scheduled for Wednesday, July 9. The Island Rebels will host the Native Gurlz of Kapaa at Isenberg Park in Lihue at 7:30 p.m.
