Only written comments will be responded to, regarding a draft environmental assessment looking at the possibility of building a new runway at the U.S. Navy’s Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands near Kekaha.
U.S. Air Force officials are considering PMRF and the Kaneohe Marine Corps base on Oahu as potential locations for a new runway to train crews in short-runway landings of the C-17 cargo jet.
Written comments need to be postmarked by next Tuesday, July 1, in order to be officially received for the record, according to an Air Force spokesman.
