Aloha’s first Oakland-Lihue flight arrives

LIHUE — Aloha Airlines Flight 445 marked the inaugural non-stop flight from Oakland to Lihue. The flight arrived Friday afternoon to a welcoming contingent of lei greeters, hula dancers, and musicians at Lihue Airport.

The departure from Oakland International Airport featured a Hawaiian blessing and included the blowing of a conch shell, untying of maile lei and an orchid lei presented to all boarding passengers. In addition, the Oakland Fire Department provided a water arch, adding to the inaugural festivities.

The flight is scheduled to fly four times a week, on Fridays and Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The flights are to leave Oakland at noon time and land at Lihue Airport by 2:30 p.m. The new Aloha flights are served by 737-700 aircraft.
