An Anahola teenager was killed in a one-vehicle crash in Anahola during the early morning hours Thursday.
The victim was identified as Kendall Lemn, Jr., 19. An anonymous caller reported the motor vehicle accident occurred just north of Kukuihale Road off Kuhio Highway at about 1:51 a.m.
Police were at the scene all day Thursday. Sgt. Mark Scribner said the investigation will be concluded today.
Lemn was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Wilcox Health emergency room. His vehicle hit a coconut tree along Kuhio Highway. Lemn was the only passenger in the vehicle, described as a BMW. The vehicle was impounded and later released to the owner. Police said they did not find drugs or alcohol in the vehicle. Initial reports from the Kauai Police Department stated that alcohol and speed may have been factors in the traffic fatality. An autopsy was performed Thursday morning at Wilcox Memorial.
