Thirteen sailboats entered the Nawiliwili Yacht Club’s race from Nawiliwili to Hanalei at the start of Memorial Day weekend.
The fastest boat posted an elapsed time of 3 hours, 22 minutes with the rest of the fleet finishing within the next three hours.
A potluck party at the Hanalei Pavilion greeted the racers and crew.
Four boats continued the next morning on a race Around-The-Island finishing Leg 2 at Port Allen on Sunday and Leg 3 at Nawiliwili on Monday.
Another race from Nawiliwili to Hanalei is scheduled for July 4 and will be followed by a four-race series in Hanalei on Wednesday evenings beginning on July 9.
