The Hanapepe Cubs scored 12 runs in the third and fourth innings en route to a 14-9 win over the Kekaha Angels in the Mustang Division championship game in West Kauai Youth League baseball this past weekend.
Dalton Christy went the distance on the mound to help Hanapepe in their five-run win.
Christy struck out six Kekaha batters and allowed six hits. Christy also went 3 for 4 at the plate with a double.
The Cubs are coached by veteran coach Ralph Soto in his 33rd year of coaching along with Mark Moriwake, Jesus Tacata, Tom Christy, and Ben Kali.
Outstanding Cubs were Kyle Delima (2 for 3) and Taylen Acoba, Brycen Tacata, Vinda Carineo Jr., Tevin Rita and Dylan Pimental (triple) with a hit a piece.
Leading the Kekaha Angels was Mana Perreira-Alquiza goine 2 for 4 with a triple.
Kahai Hosaka, Shylen-John Keuma, Mana Jose and Tevin Brun had a hit a piece.

In the Bronco Division title game, the Kalawai Yankees edged the Koloa A’s 5-3.
In their second meeting in the championship series, the Yankees prevailed once more over the Koloa A’s to win the league Bronco title.
The Yankees scored first in the bottom of the third with a Micah Rita bunt single and a Koloa error to send Rita to 3rd base.
Rita then scored on a fielder’s choice. Then Koloa came fighting back in the top of the 4th.
Trent Allianic led off with an infield single.
Brennan Rivera came in to pinch-run and advanced to second on a wild pitch, to third on a DeeshanalynnTafiti singe.
With runners on first and third, Tafiti faked a steal to second forcing Kalawai to throw to second and Rivera scored on the steal home.
Tafiti advanced to second on another wild pitch and scored on Joey Colmanero’s double.
Colmanero then scored on another Kalawai error to give them a 3-1 lead.
Kalawai threatened in the bottom of the 4th but a beautiful throw from left fielder Dustin Prem to catcher Kapena Thomas-Place stopped Kaulana Silva from scoring and ended the threat.
But Silva and the Yankees came back in the bottom of the sixth with Silva leading off with a singe, stole second and scored on a Reggie Vigilia single to centerfield.
Paul Correa then laid down a perfect bunt single to advance Vigilia to second.
With runners on first and second, Cale Santos laid down a sacrafice bunt to advance Correa and Vigilia to second and third.
On a Koloa pass ball and an error, Vigilia and Correa scored to put the Yankees ahead 4-3.
With two outs, Puna Hanohano scored to add the insurance run.
Koloa was unable to score in the top of the seventh giving Kalawai Yankees the championship.
