P’O’IPU – Qualifying for the 2003 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship will be held at Poipu Bay Golf Course on June 23 and 24.
It is one of approximately 60 36-hole qualifiers for the Junior Amateur Championship that will be played from July 21-26 at Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, Md.
Entries for the 2003 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship must be received by the United States Golf Association by June 4.
The cost is $20 to enter.
The championship is for amateurs age 17 and under.
To obtain an entry application, call the USGA at (908) 234-2300 or download the entry blank from the USGA Web site at www.usga.org.
Entrants must have a Handicap Index not exceeding 6.4. Entrants may select one of approximately 60 qualifying sites.
Thirty-six-hole qualifiers will be held nationwide from June 18 through July 1, with spots awarded at each site to fill the championship field of 156 players.
The championship format will be two rounds of stroke play, with the low 64 scorers advancing to single-elimination match play.
The Junior Amateur is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the USGA, 10 of which are strictly for amateurs.
Qualifying for the 2003 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship will be held at Mid-Pacific CC in Kailua on July 15.
It is one of approximately 20 18-hole qualifiers for the Women’s Amateur Championship that will be played from Aug. 4-10 at Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne, Pa.
Entries for the 2003 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship must be received by the United States Golf Association by June 18. The cost is $100 to enter. The championship is for female amateurs with a Handicap Index not exceeding 5.4.
