Vilma Elaine Dunbar, born Feb. 19, 1921 in Providence, RI, died on Feb. 25, 2003 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
The wife of Captain John P. Dunbar, USN (Ret.) JAG, (deceased), they had six children.
A Navy WAVE during W.W.II, she later worked in the House of Representatives, Wash. DC, Time/Life Magazine, NY, the Korean Consulate in Hawaii as an executive secretary skilled in diplomatic protocol, and in Child and Spouse Abuse at Pearl Harbor.
Vilma was a kind human being who loved Hawaii, writing, singing and horseback riding.
Family and friends may call on Mar. 6, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo at 9 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
