Hanalei man arrested in rape case

A Hanalei man was arrested in connection with a rape and burglary that allegedly occurred at Polihale State Park Thursday afternoon.

Tracy Johnson, 30, was arrested at 4:37 p.m. after a woman called police at 3:42 p.m. to report she had been raped by her ex-boyfriend.

The victim, listed as homeless, was camping at the park. Johnson showed up at the park and demanded keys to the truck she drove to the park, according to a Kaua’i Police Department report.

The two proceeded to her campsite, where Johnson allegedly pushed her into the tent and sexually assaulted her.

The victim was treated at Kaua’i Veteran’s Memorial Hospital and later released. Kaua’i Police Department detectives are investigating the incident.
