United plans second San Francisco flight
United Airlines will launch beginning Saturday, March 1, for a six-week trial period, a second daily nonstop flight between Lihu’e and San Francisco. The inbound flight leaves San Francisco at 1:10 p.m., arriving on Kaua’i at 4:49 p.m. The outbound flight leaves Lihu’e Airport at 11 p.m., arriving in San Francisco at 6 a.m., allowing for connections eastward toward the Rockies, Midwest, East Coast and Europe.
Wellington again leads Cattlemen
Stuart Wellington was recently re-elected president of the Kauai Cattlemen’s Association. Karin Carswell Guest is vice president, and Lincoln Ching is secretary/treasurer.
Keyes promoted at Central Pacific Bank
Charles Keyes was recently promoted to senior vice president and senior manager of financial services for the Neighbor Islands, for Central Pacific Bank. In his new position, he will oversee the commercial business banking programs for branches on Maui, the Big Island and Kaua’i, including the Lihu’e branch. Raised on Maui, Keyes was with Bank of Hawaii on Maui, and has over 30 years of banking experience.
Intellectual property is a seminar topic
George Darby, a patent and technology attorney based in Mililani, O’ahu, will be on Kaua’i to conduct a workshop on licensing intellectual property for commercialization, on Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Lihu’e Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
The Hawaii Small Business Development Center Network Kaua’i office presents the seminar, which has a registration deadline of Monday, Jan. 27. The cost is $35 per person, and pre-registration and pre-payment are required. Registration may be accomplished, and more information gathered, by calling 246-1748.
Cold Stone Creamery opens with free treats
