Kaua’i franchise owners Barbie and Don Taylor are opening Kaua’i’s first Cold Stone Creamery in Waipouli at the Kauai Village Shopping Center today at 11 a.m.
The couple holds the Kaua’i franchise rights for Cold Stone Creamery.
The Taylors come to Kaua’i after living for 15 years in the San Francisco Bay Area. They left behind their high-tech lifestyle in Silicon Valley and moved to Kaua’i last August with their children, Layne, Austin and Brandon, ages 4, 8 and 10.
Don was chief financial officer for a semiconductor company, and Barbie worked in telecommunications.
A second Kaua’i store is set to open this summer at Kukui Grove Shopping Center.
The store employs 22 students from Kapa’a and Kaua’i High Schools, Island School and Kaua’i Community College.
