Barbara Bennett of This Week Kauai magazine has been selected as board chairperson of the Kaua’i Visitors Bureau for 2003.
She succeeds Bob Mullins, of the Waimea high-technology firm Textron Systems Kauai. Mullins this year remains an ex-officio member of the board, as immediate past chair.
Much of the 2003 board remains the same as 2002’s, with the addition of Lucy Kawaihalau, owner and operator of Kauai Vacation Rentals & Real Estate, Inc.
Carryover members include Jerry Gibson of the Hyatt Regency Kauai Resort & Spa; Ron Kikumoto of the Aloha Beach Resort; Mike Murakoshi of First Hawaiian Bank; Dominic Cerelejia of United Airlines; Simon Jongert of the Kaua’i Marriott Resort & Beach Club; Rich Johnson of HeliUSA; Brad Gipolan of Hilo Hattie-The Store of Hawaii; Mike Furukawa of Grove Farm Company; Kamika Smith of Smith’s Motor Boat Service, Inc.; and Kelly Hoen of the Princeville Resort.
Other ex-officio members of the board include Peggy Cha and John Isobe of Kaua’i Community College; Stan Sekimoto of the state Department of Transportation Airports Division; Mamo Cummings of the Kaua’i Chamber of Commerce; and Pam Parker of the Kauai Economic Development Board.
Representatives of the Kaua’i County Council (in 2002 it was Councilmember Jimmy Tokioka) and county Office of Economic Development (in 2002 it was Director Gini Kapali) are also given ex-officio positions on the board, but haven’t been confirmed yet.
